What is an eLiquid?
eLiquid, or vape juice, is the fluid mixture that fuels your Electronic Cigarette.
It is what provides the solution and the flavoring to your E-cig. It creates the delicious flavors and vape clouds in which you exhale that mimics the traditional smoke from the old, standard cigarettes.
Here at Vaporescence, we make our own liquids and provide a variety of top selling flavors and brands. Some contain nicotine and some are nicotine free, but are just as delicious.
What different strengths does eLiquid come in?
While others exist, our eLiquids are offered in 6 standard nicotine strengths.
What’s in eLiquid?
eLiquids are made up of a few ingredients and use base ingredients consisting of PG (Propylene Glycol), VG (Vegatable Glycerin), or both, to create a smooth and tasty flavor.
PG and VG are combined with natural or artificial flavors such as fruits, desserts, coffee, or various other flavors to create truly unique and satisfying recipes.
Nicotine can be (and often is) added in various strengths to help cigarette smokers slowly cut back on their intake.
What is PG or Propylene Glycol?
Propylene Glycol is mainly used as a method to carry flavors into many food products. It can be used to absorb extra water and maintain moisture in food products, medicines, and cosmetics.
A combined base of PG/VG blend is much smoother than 100% PG base. Propylene glycol is clear, colorless, slightly syrupy liquid at room temperature. It may exist in air in the vapor form, although propylene glycol must be heated or briskly shaken to produce a vapor.Propylene glycol is practically odorless and tasteless. Propylene Glycol is non toxic and breaks down in about 48 hours.
These days, propylene glycol is the most commonly used base for electronic cigarettes. It tends to be very thin and runny, which can make it easy to have a mess on your hands. It will also drip much faster into the electronic cigarettes wick and atomizer, making you burn up your e-liquid faster than you would otherwise.
The thinner Propylene Glycol does mean that the e-cig is easier to clean as opposed to vegetable glycerin. Propylene Glycol won't gunk up the coil or the inside of the tank as much as the vegetable glycerin, so it allows you to clean a little faster and get back to vaping! Propylene is classified as a humectant, which basically means it keeps things moist. This let's PG provide a smoother hit like cigarettes to the back of your throat.
What is VG or Vegetable Glycerin?Vegatable Glycerin is a sweeter and thicker liquid. While a 100% Vegetable Glycerin base is very thick and hard to smoke effectively, combining it with Propylene Glycol can help make smoking it easier. There is a pretty distinct taste to it that, while very light, will affect the flavor additions to your eLiquid a little bit.
Since Vegatable Glycerin is thicker, so thick that it is prone to stick to the sides of the tank and potentially gunk the coil, it allows people to produce massive clouds, which some prefer.
As far as cleaning it up, you can use alcohol dipped cotton swabs to remove it from your tanks pretty easily. And, while the thicker liquid makes for thicker clouds of vape, that many people find satisfying, it doesn’t usually produce as pleasant of a throat hit as does Propylene Glycol.
Which one is better? This question has been asked many times, and it really just boils down to your personal preference. The majority of people tend to go for the propylene, which in turn has caused most manufacturers to opt to include it as the standard in most of their e-liquid selections. This could also be due to vegetable glycerin distorts the flavor slightly, while propylene offers a truer taste.
The only real advantage that vegetable glycerin has over its counterpart is its thicker plumes or clouds of vape. Many vapers love the satisfying sensation the thick plumes of vape that it provides.
Can The Two Be Mixed? So now that you know more about these two bases, you may be wondering, can they be mixed?
Is it possible to get the thick plumes of vegetable glycerin and easy-to clean, pure flavor traits of propylene?
Yes you can! Many eLiquid companies combine the two bases to do just that.
Many manufacturers mix them together 50/50, but it seems most people find the sweet spot is one that favors the propylene a little more. The propylene reduces the sweetness of the Vegetable Glycerin and allows the pure flavor of the eLiquid to come out while it still retains the massive thick plumes of vapor that vegetable glycerin provides.
If you have given both of these a test and you like some of the qualities of both, it might be worth trying out the different combinations of mixtures. Our only suggestion here to not give up on it if you don’t like the first combination you try - today there are over 8,000 flavors available, and we are sure you will find one you enjoy.
